I was just a little girl back then who was looking at the sky whenever a plane passed by, but now, I was the looking down at the land while boarding in a plane.
I never dreamt to go and travel the world but time changes and opportunities do come. Yes, being part of the SEA Teacher Project headed by the SEAMEO changed my perspective in going abroad.
I am Jesah Marizz E. Bal, 20 years old, currently taking up Education as my course, major in Bachelor of Elementary Education – General Education. When I heard that I was one of the qualified students, I haven’t believed it until I proven that when I was in Indonesia and when I went home. Though my family could not tell me how proud they were and they are, I feel it. Every day I woke up, my family is always on my mind, they are one of the reasons why every day I keep on going to school and trying to finish my studies well.
I wanted to give back to my family. I wanted my father to have an artificial leg with my own sweat. Yes, my father has only one leg due to an accident 15 years ago.
But God is indeed good in my life, in our lives for giving me such opportunities through the leadership of SEAMEO.
As I received my certificate of appreciation from our receiving university, I am very glad that I made it, we made it. Like the yellow shirt I was wearing that time, I knew I am one of a GOLDEN RABBI.
Rabbi in Hebrew means a teacher.
The travel of the Golden Rabbi means everything to me. Every corner I went in Makassar, Indonesia, every corner in Athirah, every corner in Universitas Negeri Makassar, all of our excursions, and a part of Bali International Airport also, I will never forget the memories I have made into those places.
And also, the kids, the youth, the elders we met and became my friends in Indonesia, I will not forget them.
This said practicum in another place took a big part on my journey….
Like a golden ring being worn by couples who are committed with each other, I also wanted to be a GOLDEN RABBI who is being worn with the people whom I have committed myself, inside and outside the class.
